Christmas: Contemplation or senseless shopping marathon?

Around Christmas time opinions differ on this question. Some like to give and be blessed, others consistently escape the consumerism.
But consume refusineks are therefore still far from being gift grouches. They prefer to use tinkered stuff. Advent decoration is collected during forest walks in form of fir branches, pine cones, moss and wood. Or Christmas figures will be made of dough and then painted filigree. All that adorns their own home and gives loved ones much joy. For all being aware of the effort that brings the self-designed decoration with it. And it is healthy (forest walk) and environmentally friendly all times.
Christmas: Contemplation or consumption?

Others love to browse in the Internet with a cup of organic tea and seek out exceptional gifts. An iPad case made from recycled bicycle inner tube for the teenage son, for the princess of the house PlayMais® WORLD Princess. The little daughter is probably already starting immediately after unpacking it, to conjure up even more princesses in beautiful dresses. Instead of socks and ties for the beloved husband it might be a practical and environmentally friendly laptop bag made from recycled PET bottels or in upcycling design or an elegant long sleeve made from organic cotton. And the best wife and mother in the world would be pleased by an extraordinary upcycling handbag made of recycled seat belt. So after Christmas when meeting her friends she will score well: original, exceptional and eco-friendly.
Although purchasing is faster than doing handicrafts, you can always think of your carbon footprint when purchasing. By car or public transportation to the city? Shopping on the internet or at regional manufacturers or at the giants? Conventional gifts that may contain harmful contents, or rather ecological and environmentally friendly? – With sustainable gifts you do not only have a clear conscience, but also serve nature, small manufacturing businesses and social projects. Environmentally friendly all along the line.
