
Today, we solve a mystery and show you the first part of our new logo: dot and orbit as a circular symbol.
Because in the background we work diligently on the relaunch and rebranding of our website. In Q1 2015 www.upcycling-markt.de and www.greenpicks.de/en will be combined to a contemporary online marketplace in modern design with convenient functions. And from then on we will use a new logo.
Our new logo and its sense
Basically, the circle is a symbol of unity, wholeness, perfection and completeness. The blue dot inside symbolizes the center – the marketplace as a meeting place for sellers and buyers, of people who are interested in organic products and sustainability issues. Central topics related to conscious consumption and green lifestyle are: recycling, upcycling, sustainability, organic products, fair trade, raw materials from organic farming, long life cycles of consumer goods, energy- and resource-saving and environmentally friendly production, social and fair treatment of people and the like more.
The circle is the historical basis for the development of market places and thus symbolizes the dynamic and endless moving. The slightly elliptical round shape of the green orbit indicates that in the green circuit there is always moving and growth, where forces from the outside are acting on. Nothing is as constant as change – this is especially true for the green industry. More and more designers and manufacturers realize how important it is to produce gentle and fair. To preserve the environment and humanity. And more and more consumers are demanding this by their consumption behavior.
As an orbit all green online stores and sustainable brands represent the trajectory, on which conscious consumers move around our online marketplace. Ideally, this would form an ellipse. As forces from outside act on the circular path, such as the availability of raw materials, political unrest, supply shortages, the orbit can not be an exact mathematical ellipse.
Occasionally, the circulation is also called revolution. In the symbolism of our logo that is to be understood as a fundamental, peaceful and sustainable structural change towards a conscious lifestyle and sustainable consumption.
We have chosen the colour blue for the center (= marketplace) because blue represents the depth of the lakes and seas. Life began originally in the water, every living thing is dependent on the water. Blue does not only have a calming effect, but also symbolizes transparency and truth. And that is just what we want: a transparent, understandable, fair information around the world of green products.
Green is a refreshing and calming colour also. With green we associate the resulting life and the growing of plants (= renewable resources). The root of the word green is the old Germanic word ghro, which means as much as grow and prosper. The green circular path is representative for all green online stores and sustainable brands that are represented on our online marketplace. And contribute to environmental protection of our planet with their organic products; from manufacturing to transportation and sales. If it is possible to inspire more people for sustainable consumption and a conscious lifestyle, hope is growing in terms of immortality (gentle obtain resources) of Mother Earth.
Holistic view
In the holistic view of blue dot and green orbit these symbolize the globe and thus the global trade of organic products in harmony with nature and human beeings. As at the moment a life without consumption is not possible in our society. The more we would love that everyone bothers with every purchase of food and other consumer goods, what impact our consumer behavior has on our environment, to our earth. – Because we only have one Earth. And it is important to preserve the cycle of life.
